The two pre-trail hearings earlier were cancelled due to lack of interpreters. If she didn't step in, it would mean a third cancellation of the hearing in a row, which isn't fair for the accused. And he does have the right to a quick trial. From what I read, that was their third attempt to complete the pre-trial part. Mother and son are not obligated to know legal details concerning interpreters. As far as he was concerned, she did nothing wrong.
