Hey -- it is me -- this is my second note. Today is Mother's Day. The weather isn't that great. No sun is here. A mentor of mine is not coming to my home today because she is out sick. Bummer. I am heading to my family's house for a short then zoom to my art studio. My soothing place or safe haven. Been thinking of which town I prefer to live in. It is not easy thou. What is Life?

My life is kinda edgy. I haven't decided where to start yet. I just got home from the Cambridge hospital and my trip from DC last week. I easily get overwhelmed by many small errands. I cannot handle this easily sometimes. Today is okay because I was forced to do the bills and others otherwise I will get overwhelmed easily. It hasn't been easy because as you know I have a severe procrastinator. Even I have the ADD as well. I also have a BPD and it sucks. I will not disclose the full term. I am so shame to share this everyone. I did not chose this diagnosis. It happens to be me. Stigma is very dangerous and strong as well, especially in the Deaf Community. It is the most complicated diagnosis of all and no one wants to hang with those who have BPD. I don't want to lose my friends. Will my Deaf and Hearing friends, FB buddies, and family understand this? Probably not. Gonna sign off for now.

My local friend encouraged me to join the DeafRead.com. The DeafRead website completely floored me, I hadn't expected to see many wonderful Deaf/HH b/vloggers. I truly love it. Ever since, I have enjoyed reading the various topics. Many various and challenging topics inspire me. It keeps me occupied and even make new few friends. A few months later, I had learned that DVTV coming up. I had decided to join the DVTV too! I have met many various people from all over the place. Wow! It is a worthwhile and educating experience. This year, I am extremely concerned and sad because the DVTV has been deteriorated. My friend who is the one suggested me to join the DeafRead. He is extremely disappointed in me how much I have changed. I am just a regular viewer like many others. I only want to express my own perspective. My concern is that some people may think I make a new friend with the specific person just because I like her/his opinion. It's not what you think. For example: I personally dislike the person however I only enjoy his/her interesting topics. I have always have been very careful in surrounding by many various Deaf/HH from all over the world. It hasn't been easy. Today I have made a very few friends through the DeafRead and DVTV.

I truly feel sorry for Tayler who sacrifices his own personal time to contribute this to the Deaf Community. I am not sure Tayler gets paid for doing this. Please be kind to him. If you aren't satisfied with Tayler's decision. You are obliged to leave his website by your choice. As I made a vlog earlier "Make a Choice" at the DVTV. I want to emphasize that I do not encourage you to leave the DVTV. Let's hope for the peace and unity.

I've always wanted to take some fun classes of the Community Continuing Education in my home area because it is affordable. The problem is the town who will not be getting interpreter(s) because of the heavy expense. I am aware of the ADA. It is depends on each town's budget. I know there is a Deaf person in my area who has taught ASL to the hearing participants for almost 10 years. How about the Deaf instructors who can teach various fun courses to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing participants only? I can make the announcement thru the Deaf network. The class is fun and affordable! I will check it out with the town hall or high school in my area. Diane

I would like to hear directly from the DeafRead editors and Tayler about RR's being banned from the both sites . I haven't seen any proof that he is banned or not. Hearing people are talking without signing while Deaf parents are in the same room with them!
Cochlear Implant is an heavy issue for the Deaf Community. Put this CI issue on side and focus on something positive!

Best to ignore the obnoxious person who loves getting the high number of viewers -- to feel good about himself or herself.

Keep yourself low if you are unhappy with some people who enjoy mocking you for some reasons in the Deaf Yahoo Deaf chat room (or even Deafread or others) otherwise the viewers will enjoy your show more more ..... It will increase high number of viewers. You will feel awful (in my opinion).

It is only a pre-trial -- . No jurors or anything else. The son must say "guilty or not guilty" at the pre-trial while his lawyer is presented. That is it. The next court date will be given to the son for the trial. The interpreters were not available twice. The interpreter was not available again (for the third time!) - No choice but his mom had to interpret for her son. The outcome will not look good for both. No idea if the victim was there or not.

Acupuncture for me as a young Deaf girl in the early 70's.

What an unhappy experience. My parents took me to see the Chinese doctor for acupuncture in the dry cold Fall/Winter of the early 70's--- Every Thursday for a few months. I had no fun going there. We went there by the train to meet my father at the office. I had to pretend I become hearing to stay away from the prickly needles! The last day of my acupuncture appointment -- I was thrilled to hear the news we longer go there for some reasons. I am not sure exactly why. A few years ago, As I was walking by - I finally saw and remembered the white lion statues sitting on front of the white building. It is located near Harvard University! The Acupuncture office is no longer there. Today It is very popular compare to the early 70's, I think.

(I don't want to offend you but I have to tell you this) Your cognitive thinking is extremely distorted. You watch ASL Vloggers and you mention that ASL is to be blamed? You depend on ASL in your own daily life. You work with various of consumers. You go way over the line a big time. You insult ASL-ers, KG (Kappa Gamma), and so on. Apparently, you surely make your agency looks bad! Deaf/HH consumers will turn away from your agency if you keep behaving like this. Your agency will be ruined eventually! As a Deaf young oralist- many years ago, my family did not wake me in middle of the night when the alarm went off. I asked one of my sisters why didn't they wake me. She said it is only a false alarm due to the dying batteries and they didn't want to wake me up. I was not too happy about this. Sigh ... The reason is why I brought this up because I recently read the article about the parents who forgot their OWN son took their pets outside of their burning home. Luckily their son is okay. It reminds me of my own experience. Anyone share this experience similiar to mine?

What a scary experience for all of us. A two months ago, thru my pager, I was told her dog's intestine comes out of his belly. I immediately advised her to wrap around his belly with the clean blanket and bring him to ER immediately. I was sick worried about the dog. I assumed that dog falls down or even hit by a car and rips his belly. When I arrived at my work, I explained to the new intern about this. We waited waited til they arrived, I immediately took the dog to ER -- I learned it is NOT intestine but his penis that gotten stuck outside. Oh geeeee! I am wondering what the intern and everyone think of us. I will write the story and share this with the intern and everyone at my work. She is a nice woman and knows few signs. I am glad the dog is doing fine. Using Sidekick is awesome but can cause communication breakdowns. What an experience!

A funny experience but embarrassing! Two of us Deaf went to the D'Angelos for our lunch. We ordered our meals then we sat down at the table. My friend who has some hearing sat across from me. She decided to let the "air" out but suddenly the very loud noise came out unexpectedly. I got confused by her looks and asked her what's wrong. My friend laughed nervously. There was a friendly black woman with her bright beautiful teeth who sat behind me made a huge smile. Finally both laughed hysterically. I got confused but laughing along with them. Good thing I didn't smell! Just a loud long air. Wondering what does that woman think of us Deaf. lol ....

Free laundry for us at Memorial Hall - Gallaudet NWC

At NWC, My friend and I had cheated this for a year! A free laundry for us! The laundry basement was very quiet. The flat slot machine was easily tampered too. We used the clear scot tape to pull the quarters back to us. It was a pretty tricky but we did it without any problems! We finally stopped as we entered Gallaudet Main campus because there were many students hanging around in the laundry room of Cogswell Hall (name no longer existed). Again the new slots were added to prevent from stealing. What a good memories!

In the Library at my hearing high school, my sister's friend kept asking me where the whistling sound comes from. I had to lie and gave her a terribly hard time. It was my hearing aid that whistled. It was covered by my thick hair due to my embarrassment. I wanted to fit into the group of hearing friends. -- My earmold was terribly bad and it got my ear infected!

During my '84 NWC of Gallaudet, As a new Deaf signer, I was pretty baffled by one of my friends who grew up in a small Deaf school. She told me she signs PSE which I had never heard. (I learned that later on). The Total communication (speech training, PSE, English, etc) was used in her school. Thru my childhood years, I had seen that words - "American Sign Language" thru the dictionary, articles, and etc. PSE? Nope ... Never seen or heard this before.

(Thanks to the well known woman Marie Philip who suddenly passed away a several years ago) That school now focuses on Bilingualism. What an experience! Based on my opinion, PSE is NOT a such thing. ASL must be perserved and precious!

I agree with Ruthie in 110%. Cochlear Implants advertisement definitely triggers some of us. We had been oppressed by the teachers and parents who forced us to talk, wear hearing aid(s) and so on. I am sure some of us want to spend our time in the Deaf social events. CI advertisment should be at the Deaf/HH Health Fair or workshop. ASL is a true language for all of us. We want to be free from being oppressed in the hearing society. ASL must be cherished too! Happy ASL!

My poor English skill due to being as an Deaf Oralist. Not ASL!

I've often heard that many hearing educators mention ASL effects Deaf students' poor English skill. I prove this wrong. I grew up as a Deaf Oralist and my English skill was fairly poor! I often had a trouble understanding the English grammer rules. I was ashamed of myself as if I am not smart or a slow learner. I sometimes had to ask my sisters and even my mom to write me an essay for my class(es)! English is quite complicated! I came to Gallaudet, NWC --- Bingo! *The light bulb over my head* I finally understood! I am truly blessed that I came to Gallaudet at the right time and the right place! I wish I had learned ASL as a young girl but I have to remind myself it is never too late. I still learn English everyday like all of you! There is nothing to be ashamed of! As you can see my writing is not an 100 %. The bottom line is I can read and write!

Deaf Oral Class: 100% math test + My disruptive behavior = Trash barrel

I was given an 100 % math test. I was very delighted and my self esteem was boosted! About an hour later, I misbehaved for some reasons which I don't remember. The teacher approached me with my graded math test and explained to me that my behavior is terrible. She wrote a huge "X" on that paper and threw it to the trash barrel. I cried hysterically and my self esteem suddenly plummeted! I look back and the teacher's approach was terrible to me and the rest of my classmates. I was taken out of that program and placed in a hearing school. I often felt I wasn't a good student growing up. I was reminded that I am intelligent and it has nothing to do with my behaviors in the classroom. I have never forgotten this incident with my terrible teacher.

It is not Deaf related but ..... I don't feel sorry for Paris who is in prison because she violates the probation. Paris must be treated the same as many of us. Paris can survive there -- Psych and Medication services are there for her.
Think of Deaf and Hard of Hearing inmates with a lack of communication. It is unfortunate. I don't feel bad for them but the lack of communication accessibility is my biggest concern for them.

Just learn that Paris informed her lawyers to drop the appeal and accepts the responsibility of her own behavior. I am very impressed with her. I hope she will learn a lesson in a big time.

An interesting story about my family and deafness. I came to visit my hearing family's home after Thanksgiving dinner last Fall. I noticed that my 2 years old nephew listening the iPod. I asked some of my family members about him wearing "hearing aids". It appears to me that My family's reaction stunned or speechless. Makes me wondering ... ummm.
