Some Deaf VP (videophone) call late night!
Usually after 9 pm everynite-- I like to spend my quiet time at home - Surfing the internet, Tv-ing, and my bedtime. I need to be respected by the VP callers. Only if it is a serious emergency such as a death or serious illness of the family, a car accident and so on. That is fine with me. Anyone experienced this situation?

Since you've already expressed your preferences to that person, she kept ignoring them. Then just ignore her calls after nine pm and she'll finally get the hint. It's not worth the aggravation.
Some people are just dense and inconsiderate.
Yes, I agree... I perfer for them to respect my rule about calls and limited time, too.
Simply thing is for u to turn vp off when ur time is up. that what Im doing it...

Well, it all depends on people involved. With you, yes, it is rude because you told that person clearly and specifically that you have your own preferences and he/she ignore that. I personally like night time chats with beautiful women, hahaha. However, realy, I am very flexible unless I really have to wake up early to chat with anyone, man or woman. If someone tell metheir own preferences I will respect that because I want everyone to be happy and if I want ot chat with that person again, then obviously I will respect his/her wishes.
You can always "block" his/her calls till he/she in person or by email apologize to you and will be willing ot respect your preferences from now and after.

When my husband is home safely and when I get into my pajamas, I usually unplug the lamp connected to the VP. But I always have my pager with me, so people close to me usually know how to contact me after hours in case of emergency.
If I am to believe my teens, it is now the trend to be awake most of the night and acceptable to be making calls even at 2 or 3 a.m. and chatting away as if it were the afternoon.
If there were a way to shut off the cable and phone service by program at certain times of the day, I would DO it. Then no arguments...it's off and out of my hands!
I can understand that. Same thing here with me, some of my friends called me on VP after 9 PM, but one thing you have to understand some deaf lives in West Coast time is 4 to 5 hours early different than our Eastern time. I would not complain about that. That is their only good chance to get contact with me. Also, recommend you that deaf can email you thru your sidekick or blackberry if you have so they can text you to see if you are up to talking on VP or not, you can reply them back, it is wrong time or tell them call tomorrow before 9 PM like that. That is simple.
Me, too usually go bed early than yours! I usually turn my VP off till I am free time then I will turn it on to allow anyone call me on VP.
I agreed with you that some of them doesn't understand for your private quiet time. Me, too!
You need to let your friends know the time is ok to call and time is not ok to call. They will respect you. They can page you or email you to agree a time to call. Many times Im up late and I m busy working. I ignore the calls or turn off vp. Ha.
Wow .. thanks for your response .. Yes I agree. I wish to turn the vp off but -- in case if something happens in my family or whatever. Oh boy ... Of course many of my friends are aware of this. -- But some people are still stubborn. ha ....
LOL Patty, I don't sleep with my pager at my bedtime. A teddy bear would be better for me.
Two of the current trends are videohoneMANIA as well as pagerMANIA -- excited about "new toys", so to speak. The best way would be to send an email to "Undisclosed Receipents", instructing them not to call you after 9 p.m.
All you do is to turn the videophone off so they won't bother you, smile!
For today's teens it may be considered OK to call after hours but hey, who's making the rules here? Teens or parents? ;)
I have teens and let me tell you, I make the rules not them. I don't care what's the "in" thing now days. As far as I can remember, 10 pm has always been the cut off time, ergo, it will be the cut off time for their friends too.
After ten I ignore my vp calls unless it's from a family member.
