I am stunned speechlessly at the notion that you tru-biz got an ASL interpreter for your family's gathering.

WOW. I give you two hands up *Deaf applause* I have thought about it myself because I, like you, come from a big family as well. I often feel left out. Yes, it is hard. I got fed up and now I don't attend the family gatherings anymore as sad as that may be.

Now I realize, asking the family to hire an ASL interpreter just might hit them. Wow. Thanks a bunch for sharing this story!

God bless you and happy holidays!

True!! Thank you for sharing with you in Rita's vlog. I am really apprectice of sharing what I have a huge experince and

Of course! Large family is much easier to pay for intepreter fee. Nice to have a celeberate with all of together.

Diane, Rita might not have a large family I am not quiet sure?
I will check on her vlog, again.

Myself, I am 9th of 12 th. I agree with you it is beginning difficult to not able to communicate with cousin and family together. I agree with that. I recently had a my mother 80th birthday party. It was not good from beginning. Now I know it is better to pay alot of hours and they can pay more from now and doing catch up with interpreter next time.

It is more advantage for me to talk with someone that I have not seen.

I am forward to sharing with you!

See if I will get a interpreter after christmas day. I'll forward to find out more informant. It is better than bring pen and paper. It is lost of communicate and negelect.
It is worth to share to pay instead of small family I think you are right about staying longer than 2 hours. More hours..

I learn alot after I discovered more something I never heard from 40 years ago. Something I was not aware of what happened in my family dispute issues.

Forgive all of my silbing for escaped to Washington from Oregon. It is much harder on me for long time and now move on and healing.

Joh, It is really worth to hire interpreter for family to spilt.. YOu need to expression feeling toward to your memeber family and feel worth and not left out,again.. I do hire twice time each of ten years. but if we can spend special member family. I am forward to see my younger sister I have not seen 10 years. I asked my sister to get interpreter soon this January. Worth to grabbing to get interpreter for special time together. Not very often. but once time you need to spend and discovered and more learn something update family history you did not know. I was also discovered that my grandmother escaped to USA before 1905 from Russia. I learn that my great great great grandpa was bulter or some kind of serve for Governer in Russian for the Royal family. I finally feel so warmst to hear about my grandma went to London I did not know until I learn alot I feel interpreter is most beneift for you. I encouraged you do that :D

Diane, hee hee.. I know it is lost your mind!

You are not alone! I often lost mind!! Don't feel gulity about wrong person.. I know other deaf girl have a large family. but we never shared about it what I have been left out and grew up very poverty of that time.

Happy Holidays!

This is always great advice. I'm glad it worked out for you. I'm wondering if you might consider making a transcript and attaching it to your vlog so that hearing, non-signing parents and families with deaf members can see how beneficial and inclusive this kind of thing is. Keeping family members close and involved is truly a gift for all.

DEAFNAVYHARLEYDAVIDSONUSA,

You are lucky to have a sister in law have been quickly to learn interpreter! I tried to teach my sibling and seem not well.

Unlikely my siblings and some sis in law and brother in law doesnt use ASL. It is getting harder becuase I am out of state and thought about move to nearly to my silbing's in Oregon. I lives in Seattle, WA. Drive back forth about less 5 hours. It is not that bad..

Encourage sibling's husband or wife. One of my sister in law.. We are use S.E.E. instead of ASL. I found out someone who befriend the deaf man who taught ASL and now my sister in law stuck .. her best friend moved to california. I dont know where she learn S.E.E... I am not really complained.. She is really true good to me as my sister in law. "Wonderful for you to have a fortunely sister in law willing to learn ASL." Not matter if she use S.E.E. Be patient and learn change a bit.

My sister in law Amy is one of very most loyalist to our family. She is sooo sweet.. My mom is kind of proud .. My mom, Aimee and Amy.. They confused the names. It is really good to share with you.

You rock! I do the same for our family when we have a huge gathering even thou I come from small family but when it comes to a big holiday festival dinner that includes cousins, aunts/uncles etc, that is when we hire interpreter.
It is so much fun and the hearing people changes their attitudes and mind are beginning to open. After the big events, some of relatives starting to take ASL classes which is so cool!

Yeah i always wish i had an interpter in my family but i dunno how my family will be about it and i can talk but it still hard to hear. so my family might not really understand why i would need a terp if i can speak but same time it gets lonely. yes i have small family but on my one side of family is big now, i have alot of cousins...
