Mom interprets for her accused rapist. What about the victim?! NOTE: Vlog will come up in a few seconds --
Hello! Accused rapist's mother should have known better! If you were a victim -- would you allow this happen? Not! Shheeesh!! NOTE: Wait for a few seconds for my vlog. Thanks
I think we're all jumping to conclusions and making assumptions before getting all the facts. We're starting to learn more about the case today.
For example, you have already obviously decided the case. You mentioned "accused rapist" and "victim."
An accused rapist is not the same as a rapist. Same for "alleged victim" is not the same as "victim." This is to be determined after the case has gone through the proper judicial system.
It is premature to make such statements and I urge you to be fair and impartial by saying "alleged victim."
Bryen: Still it doesn't matter if it is an accused rapist (innocent proven until guilty) or a convicted rapist. It is still the same to me. His mommy shouldn't have interpreted at the first place anyway!
Yes Yes, I agree with you. I am very angry after incident of my past years. I move on. but I am angry what I read about MZ's blog were saying about the accused Rapist's mother interpreter. I was so mad about the victims is hopeless.
Likely I say I don't agree with judge why they put her to inteprreter for her son. I cannot beleive that!
Of course I am not really impressived of the issues were not good excuse. I agree with one of blogger that she say she is not agree with mother's blogs in MZ's
I'm a clerk in a law firm and I told one of the paralegal specialists there the story about the mother/intepreter and her son/rapist. As far as he was concerned, she did nothing wrong. It was only a pre-trial, not a big deal.
Furthermore, the rapist is only "alleged" and he's still innocent until proved guilty. And he does have the right to a quick trial. From what I read, that was their third attempt to complete the pre-trial part. Mother and son are not obligated to know legal details concerning interpreters. It's the responsibility of the NJ justice dept. and they failed mother and son, not the other way around.
I agree with Squ65 the mother should not intepreter for his son who accused for raped. I read the story from MZ's story.
the victims are deaf, too. I disagree with that one! Should hire professional interpreter from deaf agencies with qualifited interpreter for legal related.
The mom stepped in only after the interpreters didn't show up. The two pre-trail hearings earlier were cancelled due to lack of interpreters. If she didn't step in, it would mean a third cancellation of the hearing in a row, which isn't fair for the accused. It's not the fault of the mother that the interpreters didn't show up.
Constitution states that the accused has the right to a speedy trial.
MZ: Oh dear that's very very true. if cancel for the third time .. which means the case is automatically dropped? Pardon me if I misunderstood at the first place. Did I? Going to court is no phun thou and very scary too.
No, the case wouldn't be dropped, but it'll mean another postponement. Which isn't fair for the alleged victim, too, cuz it means a longer wait for her, too.
OH, Dearest.. I complete understand the point why the interpreter did not show up twice then, mom interpreter.
My head is shaken'head. Wonder why the interpreter did not show up twice. Resechedule is beganning diffiuclt time for processing with Judge doesnt like waste time?
The court house should check on interpreter agencies before few days the schedule is begninning. They should check agencies before that day.
It is truly absurd thou. It is not fair for the victim. I am sure the accuser is hoping his charge will be dropped due to the shortage of the legal certified interpreters. No one knows if the accuser did it or not. Up to the accuser if he admits this otherwise this will go to the jurors to decide.

The victim wasn't at the pre-trial hearing.

So sad the system has failed.

Thanks MZ for clarify this.
